The educational program “Training of Music Teachers” is an integral part of M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan University. The specialty “Music Education” plays a significant role in the university’s academic and social life and is actively developing with broad practical implementation.The active engagement of faculty members and students at various levels, the broad functionality of the program, and a high level of scientific and creative activity clearly demonstrate its effectiveness.

The program is implemented by highly qualified academic staff with scientific and academic degrees, laureates of various competitions and festivals, honored cultural figures of the Republic of Kazakhstan, associate professors, and master’s degree holders, including K.L. Kismetov, K.R. Kazhimova, D.I. Kazhimov, K. Kuzhakov, L.K. Umirzakova, A.Zh. Kenzhegalieva, A.B. Zhardemova, A.A. Kusainov, E.G. Potichenko, A.M. Muratova, G.Kh. Kudarova, A.V. Yurchenko, G.E. Utegenova, M.T. Gabbasova, D.N. Malaeva, A.M. Kenzhegaliev, E.A. Gubaidullin, N.N. Baktygereeva, A.K. Utebaeva, N.S. Kineshov, L.S. Kushenova, A.A. Akhmetova, K.K. Kuanyshkalieva, and others.

Faculty members annually participate in national and international conferences, as well as public and concert events of the university, city, and region. They continuously improve their pedagogical and performance skills and actively conduct research, thematic readings, concert-lectures, and publications.One of the priority directions of the educational program is cultural and aesthetic education and the development of students’ creative potential. In order to foster patriotism, respect for moral values, promote a healthy lifestyle, and develop creative abilities, curator hours, thematic professional events, and city, regional, national, and international competitions are organized.

Training of specialists under the educational programs 5B010600 / 6B01404 “Music Education” has been conducted since 1993 to prepare music teachers for the western region of Kazakhstan and the country as a whole. Currently, the educational program 6B01413 “Training of Music Teachers” is implemented.

Graduates of this program are awarded the academic degree “Bachelor of Education in Music Education (6B01413)”. Training is provided in full-time mode for 4 years and in a shortened program for 3 years in Kazakh and Russian languages. Graduates are in demand in educational institutions, social and cultural organizations, as well as professional and creative groups in Kazakhstan and abroad.

During the academic year, methodological weeks, master classes, presentations, and video recordings of open classes are traditionally conducted to disseminate best pedagogical practices. Within the methodological month of the 2025–2026 academic year “Innovative Methods for Preserving National Culture and Art,” open classes were conducted.At the meetings of the educational program, various aspects of training art teachers are discussed, including methodological and staffing support, quality of teaching, material and technical resources, and measures to improve the effectiveness of the educational process. Regular analysis of educational and methodological activities and current student performance is conducted.

Monitoring of faculty workload implementation is carried out in accordance with the Quality Management System process map “Organization and Control of Teaching Activities.” Faculty members record conducted classes in individual journals. Monitoring is performed by the Department of Academic Affairs, and corrective actions are taken in case of deviations.

In the process of training music teachers, the department focuses on the following key areas:

development of students’ theoretical knowledge (music theory, composition, history, aesthetics);
formation of practical skills (instrumental and vocal training, ensemble performance, musical analysis);
development of pedagogical competencies (curriculum design, lesson planning, teaching methodology);
use of modern technologies (music software, online learning platforms, digital notation and sound tools).

The program aims to enhance students’ professional training, integrate educational and research activities, and ensure effective application of theoretical and practical knowledge.
