To train a teacher-musician possessing modern musical, communicative, digital and entrepreneurial competencies, inclusive music education skills, capable of creating high-quality music educational content and effectively organizing the music education process.
7M01404 – Music Education
To prepare a competitive and highly qualified Master’s graduate with fundamental theoretical and methodological training in the field of updated music education, capable of effectively carrying out professional activities in higher, secondary and vocational education systems, meeting labor market requirements, and possessing personal, general cultural, professional and subject-specific competencies, as well as practical skills for their implementation.

Historical Background
In the context of modern Kazakhstan’s development, the administration of the A.S. Pushkin Ural Pedagogical Institute provides training for music teachers in general secondary schools with the aim of enhancing children’s musical and aesthetic education.
In 1990, the specialty 0317 “Music and Singing” was established at the Faculty of Fine and Graphic Arts; later, it was transformed into specialty 031740 “Music Education.”
A significant contribution to the development of music education was made by members of the Union of Composers of Kazakhstan and leading faculty members. Under the leadership of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor I.M. Lomonosov, comprehensive musical education of students received active development.
From the 1995–1996 academic year, the Department of “Music and Singing” was headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor M.M. Nagimova. In subsequent years, the scientific and methodological base was strengthened, the academic staff expanded, and interest among applicants in the specialty significantly increased.
In 2015, through the merger of the departments “Music Education” and “Vocal,” the Department of “Music Education and Vocal” was established.

Updating of the Educational Program
Previously, the educational program was implemented under the code 6B01404. Since 2024, in accordance with amendments to the regulatory and legal documents of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of education, the code and title of the educational program have been revised. Currently, the educational process is carried out under the updated code 6B01413 (IP).
The content of the educational program has been improved in line with modern labor market requirements, educational standards and the principles of professional competency development. Curricula, educational programs and teaching and methodological documentation have been fully updated and are implemented in accordance with established procedures.
At present, the educational program “Training of Music Teachers” is headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, member of the Union of Composers of Kazakhstan K.L. Kismetov. The program is delivered by highly qualified academic staff, including laureates and diploma holders of international and national competitions, honored cultural and artistic figures.
